STOP MOTION

CHILDRENS' DAY

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Purpose: Awareness | Duration: 2 days (2024) | Software: Stop Motion Studio, Premier Pro

This stop motion project, created around Children’s Day, focused on raising awareness about the harsh reality of child labour. What began as an explorative animation exercise evolved into a narrative contrasting the innocence of childhood with the burden of forced labour.

Through storyboarding and frame-by-frame animation, we aimed to show the two sides of the same coin, one where children laugh, play, break the boundaries of imagination and dream, and another where they work tirelessly, robbed of that very freedom. The film serves as a reminder that every child deserves to live, not just survive, to keep their heart of gold untainted by the world’s indifference.

PROCESS

The process began with storyboarding to visualize each scene and establish the emotional tone of the narrative. Once finalized, we created the individual shapes, and miniature models that brought the story to life.

Each element was crafted by hand to reflect the contrasting moods of joy and hardship. Finally, we shot the animation frame by frame, experimenting with compositions, transitions to create a smooth, expressive flow that delivered a meaningful message.

DELIVERABLE

The final deliverable was a short stop-motion film that combined all the handcrafted elements into a cohesive narrative. After assembling and sequencing each frame, we moved into post-production, refining the pacing, enhancing color tones, and adding subtle sound effects to heighten emotion. The result was a heartfelt, awareness-driven animation that shed light on the issue of child labour while celebrating the innocence and resilience of children.
