UI/ UX DESIGN

YATRICK

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Purpose: Making travels easier | Duration: 3 Weeks (2024) | Software: Figma

This project focused on developing a UI/UX solution to address the everyday challenges of hiring auto-rickshaws in Jorhat. As college students, we frequently faced issues such as fare uncertainty, auto-pooling and lack of a reliable booking system.

These recurring frustrations became the foundation for our research and design process. Through user insights, field observations, and iterative prototyping, we aimed to create a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly platform that simplifies local commute experiences for students and residents alike.

RESEARCH

The research phase began with on-ground interviews and surveys across Jorhat, where we spoke to people from different age groups and backgrounds to understand their experiences with renting auto-rickshaws and identify the gaps in the existing system.

Since Jorhat is an auto-rickshaw–majority transport town, we focused on analyzing key user pain points, from inconsistent fares and poor availability to the lack of pooling options and flexible routes.

The combined insights from these surveys helped us refine our approach, introducing features like fare transparency, vehicle pre-booking, customizable routes, and both private and group travel options. Based on this foundation, we developed Yatrick.

DELIVERABLE

After completing our research and concept development, we translated all our findings into a functional prototype on Figma. This phase focused on visually representing our ideas and testing how the system could work in a real world context. The prototype served as a proof of concept, allowing us to refine our design decisions and understand how users might interact with the platform before moving toward a final solution.
